Borde Hill’s rose garden was designed by RHS gold medallist Robin Williams.

Group bookings for Borde Hill Garden in Haywards Heath are now open for 2024, with four exclusive tours to choose from: Garden Tour, Specialist Tree Tour, Historic Archive Tour and Roses in Bloom Tour.

Listed by English Heritage as being of Grade II historic importance and set in 383 acres of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Borde Hill is of national botanical importance and features one of the rarest collections of privately owned champion tress in the UK.

Whatever the season, groups can enjoy displays or magnolias, camellias, azaleas and rhododendrons in spring, followed by summertime roses, herbaceous borders and breathtaking autumn colour.

Self-guided visits can also be organised, with group benefits including discounted entry for bookings of 15 or more people, meet and greets on arrival, free coach parking, a dedicated group coordinator and catering options.

Borde Hill group tours

Those wanting a more exclusive experience can opt for expert-led tours from the garden team who can pinpoint specific areas interests across the site.

During the Garden Tour, visitors will find out what it takes to maintain each area of the garden on a day to day basis, along with details of its ambitious plans for a sustainable future and how the team plan to protect Borde Hill’s rare collection.

Groups can explore the Elizabethan Mansion throughout May 2024.

The Specialist Tree Tour is led by head of horticulture, Harry Baldwin, and allows guests to delve into the history of Borde Hill’s Champion Trees collection, ranging from blowsy Himalayan magnolias to endangered rhododendrons.

The Historic Archive Tour (6th - 24th May 2024) includes a tour of the garden, as well as the chance to step inside the Elizabethan Mansion to explore highlights of the site’s horticultural archive, while the Roses in Bloom Tour shines a spotlight on more than 750 roses during June. 

For groups looking to create a larger itinerary in the area, Borde Hill has partnered with two neighbouring attractions, Sussex Prairie Garden and Bluebell Railway, to offer combination tickets.
