The river cruise line says its next generation of ships, starting with Amadeus Nova launching in spring 2024, marks a new chapter in premium river cruising.

Amadeus River Cruises

Amadeus Nova, set to launch in spring 2024, heralds the cruise line’s next generation of passenger ships.

Amadeus Nova, which will sail on the Rhine and Danube, will combine luxurious facilities, modern design and innovative shipping technology that will set new environmental protection standards on rivers.

Featuring a hybrid diesel-electric engine and solar panels for clean energy, the 158-passenger river cruise ship will showcase the cruise line’s “redefined comfort, offering more space, luxury and modern design”.

Built with the latest generation engine means that it almost completely eliminates the emission of pollutants; the ship will also feature technology to reuse heat generated from the electric engine room and public areas.

Wolfgang Lüftner, Amadeus’ founder and managing director, said Amadeus Nova reflected their commitment to sustainable travel and was their response to the question of “whether you can combine ship comfort with environmental awareness”.

He added: “With the new generation, we want to offer the most progressive and environmentally-friendly technology currently available…Amadeus Nova maintains all the characteristics for which the Amadeus fleet is famous and offers customers a new style of luxury cruising.”

What can guests expect on board Amadeus Nova?

The new ship has four decks, 12 spacious suites (approximately 26.40 m²) with balconies, 67 exterior cabins (approximately 17.50 m² in size and mainly with panoramic windows which can be lowered), elegant wind-protected lounge areas, an open Café Vienna, spa and fitness areas and a heated pool on the sun deck.

Keukenhof Gardens

One of Amadeus Nova’s first cruise is the Tulip Serenade which features a visit to the famous Keukenhof Gardens, where each year growers and exporters plant millions of flower bulbs.

Its construction is said to resemble that of Amadeus Riva and Amadeus Cara. Itineraries for the Danube on board Amadeus Nova in 2024 include the Tulip Serenade, an eight-day cruise along the waterways of Holland and Belgium.

Groups will explore Amsterdam, Ghent, Antwerp and Bruges as well as quaint villages and sleepy towns. It also features the chance to visit the Keukenhof Gardens with its 79 acres of spring colour.
