The National Stud in Newmarket has been awarded with Coach Friendly Status by the Confederation of Passenger Transport UK.

National Stud

The attraction is a thoroughbred breeding farm and training facility and is said to be the only commercial stud farm in the UK offering tours to the public. It can be booked through Discover Newmarket.

What is the Coach Friendly Status award?

This status is awarded to attractions and facilities that recognise and understand the requirements of coaches and their passengers, while also providing first-class facilities, access and information for drivers.

The National Stud’s coach friendly car park offers space for large groups of visitors throughout the year to see the 500-acre farm, the stallions who live and work there, and mares resting and grazing with young foals who are set to make their mark on the racing world in the future.

Discover Newmarket, the tourism hub and official tour guide for the Home of Horseracing offers exclusive tours to The National Stud for groups and members of the public from February through to October.

Coach groups can learn about the history and heritage of the site, how it feeds into Newmarket’s horseracing history, and explore the legacy of stallions at stud including the famous Mill Reef.

Tours last 90-minutes and are taken on coach and foot, with explanations of the various areas of the Stud and how they work together to create potential champions of the future.

Megan Pollexfen, manager at Discover Newmarket, commented: “We are delighted to have received this award as recognition of The National Stud’s efforts to welcome visitors to the Stud for what we see as a unique experience and enjoyable day out.

“Our educational tours are delivered by industry expert guides and we look forward to welcoming more groups to the Stud in 2019.”
