Our pick of some of the many seasonal events and attractions happening this autumn at each RHS garden.

Some of the highlights across RHS gardens in September

Festival of Flavours (all gardens): taking place at all gardens throughout September and some into October, groups can browse seasonal produce and taste tempting treats from a variety of food stands. There’ll also be expert advice available from the RHS team as well as cookery demonstrations. 

RHS Garden Bridgewater: Fruit Full Exhibition by Françoise Sergy, 8th September – 1st January 2024. Learn all about why we like sugar so much through the art and science project. The project is a partnership between an artist, nutrition scientists, fruit growers and jam makers.

RHS Garden Harlow Carr: Bath House Exhibition – Autumn Craft Fair, 17th September – 22nd October. Browse a range of hand-crafted products, from original artwork and ceramics to beautifully crafted jewellery, photographic prints, cards, candles, blankets and more.

RHS Garden Hyde Hall: Autumn Plant Fair, 23rd – 24th September. Organised with Essex Plant Heritage, RHS Hyde Hall’s Autumn Plant Fair brings together a wide range of nurseries from across the region exhibiting and selling rare, unusual and threatened species of plants. 

RHS Garden Rosemoor: The Great Hobby Weekend 16th-17th September. Discover some of the nation’s favourite past times at RHS Garden Rosemoor – from rambling, gardening and photography to birdwatching or axe throwing. 

RHS Garden Wisley: Flower Show 5th-10th September. Expect gardening inspiration, expert advice, vibrant floral displays including the wonderful National Dahlia Society’s marquee, and fabulous shopping opportunities.

Our pick of events in October

Bridgewater: Mid-Autumn Festival, 30th September – 1st October. A celebration of harvest-time across the globe with a particular focus on the traditions and festivals of East Asia.

Harlow Carr: Northern Fruit Group Apple Display, 20th – 22nd October. Take in the best of the apple harvest for 2023, get expert advice on fruit growing, and even bring in homegrown apples for identification.

Hyde Hall: Curator’s Autumn Walk, 19th October. Join RHS Hyde Hall’s Robert Brett for an informative walk around the gardens, and marvel at the rich autumn colour palette of deciduous trees, grasses and herbaceous plants.

All gardens will be illuminated throughout November and December for the RHS Glow events. 

Look out for these attractions in November

RHS Glow (all gardens): the sell-out event returns this year on different dates throughout November and December. See the gardens in a whole new light, as twinkling trails and colourful displays illuminate sculptural trees and winter blooms as dusk falls.

Hyde Hall: Christmas Gift Fair 10th-12th November. Looking for Christmas gift ideas? This three-day fair can help you find a range of presents through an array of local traders selling gifts and tempting food.

Rosemoor: Winter Sculpture Exhibition 11th November - 31st January. See the low, bright sunlight create long shadows cast by a specially curated collection of inspirational artwork by local and national sculptors, set against the backdrop of winter colour and texture.

Wisley: Christmas Craft & Design Fair, 8th - 12th November. Browse and purchase from some of the UK’s finest contemporary artists and makers, all offering a large variety of unusual and original designs to suit all tastes, including a stunning collection of contemporary jewellery and stylish silverware.
