A number of holidays themed around photography are on offer this year, providing groups of all abilities the chance to hone their camera skills or simply enjoy capturing beautiful photos.

Learn from scratch

HF Holidays has launched a Discover Photography Weekend in Church Stretton, Shropshire – great for groups that see themselves as photography beginners. A knowledgeable leader will guide you to handpicked locations around Church Stretton, giving hints and tips on how you can make the most of your camera throughout the day.

Holiday highlights include discovering techniques to get the great results from your own camera, and daily image review sessions offering constructive feedback throughout your holiday.

Hone your editing skills

Cruise line Silversea has also introduced something new this year; a My Photo Academy on sailings to Antarctica onboard Silver Cloud, utilising the ship's new Photo Studio. Guests will have the chance to develop their photographic skills by learning how to take and edit pictures like a professional.

The itineraries are designed to maximise expedition time and provide opportunities for shooting great images of the Antarctic landscape and wildlife. Private and group lessons are available for both beginners and pros.

Take a private wildlife tour

Wild Photography Holidays offer small groups of up to ten private photo-themed tours taking in lots of different landscapes. Iceland, Greenland, India and Scotland are some of the places groups can tour with their cameras, all led by an experienced guide.

Examples of ready-made itineraries include a tour to see the pilgrim shrines in the Indian Himalayas, with opportunity to photograph sunrises, sunsets and night skies against a backdrop of Himalayan snow-capped peaks. Capturing the northern lights in west Iceland and the icebergs in Greenland are also experiences that groups can enjoy privately or use for inspiration to make bespoke tours.
