Visitors to London’s Lightroom can explore space missions with Tom Hanks or travel back 66 million years to when dinosaurs ruled the Earth during its winter season.
From 24th November, visitors will be able to explore two immersive audio-visual experiences as part of Lightroom’s winter season.
In the morning, groups will be transported back 66 million years to a time when dinosaurs ruled the Earth, as Lightroom and Apple TV+’s immersive experience Prehistoric Planet: Discovering Dinosaurs extends until 25th January 2026.
Returning until 25th January 2026, The Moonwalkers: A Journey with Tom Hanks will run in the afternoon and takes audiences beyond Earth’s atmosphere to the surface of the moon.
Richard Slaney, CEO of Lightroom said: “There’s something for everyone at Lightroom this season – The Moonwalkers and Prehistoric Planet are both perfect family weekend outings or holiday treats. As the dark nights close in, we’re excited to transport audiences of all ages through time and space.”
What to expect from each show
Based in a room almost identical in size to NASA’s Apollo Mission Control, The Moonwalkers: A Journey with Tom Hanks will transport audiences through NASA mission footage from the Apollo missions, and photography remastered by Andy Saunders.
The immersive show is written and narrated by Tom Hanks and features an original score composed by Anne Nikitin and recorded by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Hanks guides visitors through the story of humankind’s fascination with the Moon, featuring Apollo-era mission audio alongside interviews with the Artemis programme astronauts set to return to the Moon in 2026.
The Moonwalkers: A Journey with Tom Hanks has been seen by audiences in the UK, South Korea and the United States since opening in London in December 2023.
Narrated by actor Damian Lewis, Prehistoric Planet: Discovering Dinosaurs guides audiences through the fascinating role dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures have played in shaping our world and features creatures ranging from juvenile Isisaurs to the fearsome Tyrannosaurus Rex, all at true-to-life scale within their natural habitats.
The show features cuts of scenes from seasons one and two of Apple TV+’s hit series Prehistoric Planet with exclusive, never-before-seen material - extended CGI sequences and bespoke illustrations that bring the show to life in entirely new ways. An accompanying score has been created by Academy Award-winner Hans Zimmer, Anže Rozman and Kara Talve for Bleeding Fingers Music.
