A new tour of the musical Flashdance will tour the UK in 2017, opening on 7th August at the King’s Theatre in Glasgow.
The tour will run until July 2018, and other confirmed venues on the circuit include Milton Keynes Theatre, The Bristol Hippodrome, the Opera House in York, and the Empire Theatre in Liverpool.
Casting is yet to be announced.
What’s Flashdance about?
Based on the 1983 Paramount Pictures film of the same name, Flashdance is a story about 18 year old Alex, a welder by day at a steel mill and a ‘flashdancer’ in a bar by night.
Alex dreams of going to the prestigious Shipley Dance Academy and becoming a professional dancer.
Audiences will watch as a romance complicates her ambitions, and find out if Alex can use the love affair to aid her in achieving her dancing dreams.
Groups going to watch Flashdance can enjoy musical hits such as Maniac, Manhunt, I love Rock & Roll and the title track Flashdance - What a Feeling.
The musical will be produced by Selladoor Productions – producers of Footloose, Avenue Q and Little Shop of Horrors – and Runaway Entertainment – producers of In The Heights, Guys and Dolls and Lazarus.
