Emerald Luna, the newest Star-Ship from Emerald Cruises, will set sail on the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers in Europe, following a special christening ceremony in Amsterdam, Holland.

The ninth Star-Ship to enter the fleet was christened in Amsterdam.

The 180-guest Emerald Luna features the line’s innovative balcony design in most cabins, complete with decked area and an open-air system, as well as an indoor swimming pool with retractable roof and cinema.

The ninth Star-Ship in the line’s fleet, she joins sister ships Emerald Sun, Sky, Star, Dawn and Destiny sailing the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers in Europe. Emerald Cruises’ river fleet also includes the 132-guest Emerald Liberté sailing the Rhône and Saône Rivers in France, 112-guest Emerald Radiance sailing the Douro River in Portugal, and 84-guest Emerald Harmony sailing the Mekong River in Vietnam and Cambodia.

In attendance at the christening ceremony were Rob Voss, COO of the Scenic Group; David Winterton, global director of brand & marketing for Emerald Cruises; Maggie Carbonell, vice-president of marketing, USA; Ann Chamberlin, vice-president of sales, USA; as well as guests and local dignitaries.

Emerald Luna’s godmother, award-winning US travel industry advocate and educator Vanessa McGovern of Gifted Travel Network, also graced the official ceremony.

Emerald Luna will sail the Danube from 2023 and stop off in various cities including Budapest. 

In 2023, the ship will embark on two sailings across multiple dates – a Jewels of the Rhine & Amsterdam itinerary and a Discover the Treasures of the Danube sailing.

The ten-day Jewels of the Rhine & Amsterdam trip includes stops in Breisach, Cologne and the Dutch capital, while the Treasures of the Danube offer covers 16 days in Europe, with visits to Budapest and Vienna among the highlights.
