£10 million revamp for Haven’s Thornwick Bay

The revamp is part of Haven’s plans to re-invest over £50 million back into their holiday parks throughout 2016, with the money going towards new swimming pools, restaurants, landscaping and pitch developments.

£10 million of the £50 million will be re-invested in Thornwick Bay in Flamborough and will benefit the existing Haven Nature Rockz programme amongst the new builds.

The Haven Nature Rockz programme includes activities such as bug hunt safaris, shelter building, fire lighting, pond dipping and guided nature trails to stone skimming tournaments and mini nature activities.

With the revamp, more activities will be running with the aim to getting visitors closer to nature and to encourage families to explore the local area and join in with guided walks.

Such activities include Nature Bracelet Making, Habitat Creations and Pirates Treasure Hunt.

Thornwick Bay boasts natural surroundings lending itself to alternative activities such as fossil casting, guided cave exploration, Nordic walking, guided boat tours, archery, fencing and target shooting.

The complex is already known for its musical street theatre entertainment, stories around the campfire and even an outdoor cinema. Medieval jousting takes place in the summer holidays and additionally, the new activity barn will offer pic ‘n’ paint and sand art.

Flamborough Head nearby is also the focus for nature related activities with two secluded bays used for sea fishing and spotting marine mammals. The area is home to many sea bird breeding colonies, including kittiwakes and gannets, amongst its 80 metre high cliffs.

Thornwick Bay will also have a new owners lounge with its own café bar for those who own caravans on the park.

Visitors can expect to experience these new developments by the end of winter.
