Amidst the traditional cruises, there are some more unique trips with cruise lines offering a trip out of the ordinary. Here are some of the most unique ones around…
There are plenty of traditional cruises out there that will whisk you away to an exotic destination, with all of the comforts of your own home but there are also some cruise lines offering something a little bit different. Here are some of the trips that are sure to get everyone talking when you get back home.
Glamping at sea
The Celebrity Flora has been exclusively designed for sailing amongst the Galapagos Islands, and offers guests the chance to sleep beneath the night sky in the top deck glamping pod. There are two cabanas, one of which is fitted with a double bed, while the other can be used for enjoying an alfresco meal. To help guests get the most out of the experience, a naturalist will be available to highlight the stars and constellations visible.
Exclusive campfire-inspired culinary favourites, such as wines and s’mores, will be on offer, and ‘campers’ will also be able to enjoy the sunrise with a full bed-side breakfast.
Meow Meow Cruise
This might just be the ultimate cruise for cat lovers – departing from Tampa, Florida on 12th October, 2019, the Meow Meow Cruise will feature themed activities such as a group dining, trivia, a free cocktail party and scavenger hunts, although unfortunately no cats will actually be on-board for the sailing.
Ghost Hunter Cruise
A far cry from the cute cat theme of the Meow Meow Cruise, this itinerary from Norwegian Cruise Line is for fans of the paranormal. Passengers will visit the haunted sights of Naples, Rome, Florence, Cannes and Palma Majorca. The tours will be led by Ben Hansen, host of the Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files, and medium Sarah Newton Lemos.
More details are due to be released shortly.
Those wanting to make their on-shore excursions a little different will be pleased to hear that Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines is now offering ‘voluntourism’ shore experiences in 2019, which will include the opportunity to visit a school in Saint Lucia and the chance to contribute to Dominica’s post-hurricane recovery.
The Sci-Fi Sea Cruise
Doctor Who fans won’t want to miss the chance to meet stars from the TV show such Peter Davison (the fifth Doctor), Sylvester McCoy (the seventh Doctor), Terry Molloy (Doctor Who’s Davros) and Ian McNeice (Doctor Who’s Churchill) on-board Royal Caribbean’s Explorer of the Seas. Sailing from 13th-22nd December 2019, the round trip from Miami will feature exciting activities and will visit new destinations in Southern Caribbean.
Symphony of the Seas
If you’re not looking for a themed cruise, but you still want to step things up a notch from the traditional vessels then Royal Caribbean’s ship Symphony of the Seas might be the answer for you.
The ship is believed to be the biggest in the world and features an open air-theatre with high-diving acrobatic and aquatic performances, an ultimate family suite complete with a slide (pictured above), a trio of multi-story waterslides, a ten-storey slide, two FlowRider surf simulators, a nine deck high zip line and twin rock-climbing walls standing at 40 feet tall.
