The Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts in Norwich has announced some new exhibitions for next year, including displays dedicated to Fiji and a commemoration of work by Alberto Giacometti.

Language of Flowers

7th November 2015 – 20th March: Alphonse Mucha: In Quest of Beauty

Focussing on modern design, this exhibition will include over 65 works drawn primarily from the collection of the Mucha Trust and focuses on iconic posters (such as Gismonda and Job), drawings, paintings and photographs.

Highlight pieces will be from artists including Larche, Lalique Fouquet and Gallé, from the Sainsbury Centre’s own Anderson Collection of Art Nouveau.

12th March – 7th August: Fiji: Art and Life in the Pacific

Groups can celebrate 200 years of creativity in a comprehensive exhibition devoted to Fiji. Figure sculptures, painted textiles, ivory regalia, weapons and elaborately carved bowls will be presented to the public, including a substantial loan of treasures from Fiji Museum.

There will be over 270 artworks and numerous paintings and photos to tell the story of Fijian art, with the main emphasis on the 19th century.

23rd April – 25th September: Alberto Giacometti: A Life and Legacy

This exhibition will be dedicated to the work of Alberto Giacometti, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the artist’s death.

Groups can see approximately 50 works representing Giacometti’s entire legacy, exploring a number of key themes including his sources of inspiration, his approach to materials, and his influence on British artists and sculptors.
