Funny Girl synopsis

Starring Sheridan Smith in the lead role, Funny Girl charts the life of Fanny Brice, who rose from the Lower East Side of New York to become one of Broadway's biggest comedienne stars.

Audiences can play witness to Brice’s doomed relationship with gambler Nicky Arnstein, and sing along to iconic songs, including People and Don’t Rain On My Parade.

The cast

Sheridan Smith made her West End debut in a National Youth Music Theatre production of Bugsy Malone and has since performed in musicals Into the Woods, Little Shop of Horrors and Legally Blonde.

She won two Laurence Olivier Awards in consecutive years, for Best Actress in a Musical as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde in 2011 and Best Performance in a Supporting Role as Doris in a revival of the play Flare Path in 2012.

Other confirmed cast members for the Menier production of Funny Girl include Darius Campbell (who will play male lead Nick), Marilyn Cutts, Valda Aviks, Natasha J Barnes, Maurice Lane, Bruce Montague, Joel Montague and Gay Soper.
