I kicked off my career as a travel writer and broadcaster back in 1997 with a five week white knuckle train ride from Edinburgh all the way across Europe and Asia to Hong Kong.
I also specialise in city breaks, rail travel, adventure travel and cruising. I've now travelled to over 100 countries and make 30-40 trips a year.
Over half of his trips are around his native Scotland and he is the author of National Geographic Scotland. He also specialises in Croatia, Slovenia, Portugal and the Canary Isles.
