Mamma Mia church

To mark ten years since the musical was first screened, Star Clippers has created a new Mamma Mia tall ship sailing itinerary which calls into the islands of Skiathos and Skopelos.

The creation of the itinerary also coincides with the UK release of the film’s sequel Mamma Mia, Here We Go Again! on 20th July. The new itinerary is available next year and group travel organisers can book it now.

The itinerary will take in locations where the 2008 film was shot on several Greek islands. Passengers will sail on board the tall ship Star Flyer, rigged with thousands of feet of sails.

During the seven nights on board, Star Flyer will sail from Athens to call into Dikil (Turkey), Mirina, Limnos, Skiathos, Skopelos, Poros and back into Athens (Pireus).

Film fans will have three opportunities to sail to the original film locations, departing on 18th May, 8th and 29th June and 17th August 2019. During the production of the 2008 film, most of the outdoor scenes were filmed on location at beaches and towns on the island of Skiathos.

The Old Port on Skiathos is where the three fathers met for the first time, and the area around the St, Nikolaos Bell Tower is where Sophie mailed her letters. Also among the film locations on Skopelos (called Kalokairi in Mamma Mia) is a beautiful beach south of Agnondas.

The Mamma Mia sailings include port charges, all meals on board and seven days cruising through the Greek islands. Group organisers should call 08082 314798 for group reservations.
