Hyde Hall Herbaceous Border

RHS Garden Holidays has launched a new four day break called Private Gardens of East Anglia, which will visit a number of outdoor spaces in Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk.

The new holiday, available for groups to book on 2nd May and 13th September, features what the RHS describes as some of the ‘finest private and public gardens of East Anglia’.

Holiday details

The four day holiday starts in Essex, and visits RHS Garden Hyde Hall. Here groups can enjoy a selection of different garden styles including rose and Mediterranean gardens and a new wildflower meadow. There will also be a visit to Beth Chatto’s garden and nursery on this day.

Groups will go on to visit the gardens at Helmingham Hall, followed with a visit to Wyken Hall vineyards and gardens, which features a knot and herb garden, an old fashioned rose garden, and an orchard.

A highlight of the holiday will be a visit to the private garden of RHS President, Sir Nicholas Bacon. This garden includes wildflowers such as camassias and blossoms, as well as viburnum, cornus and willows.

Along with Sir Nicholas’s garden, groups will have the chance to visit East Ruston Old Vicarage, and the Place for Plants at East Bergholt – a nursery and garden owned by an RHS committee member.

Groups will also visit Marks Hall Gardens and Arboretum, which features plants from temperate regions of the world.
