A new production of the musical, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, will return to London for a limited run in 2019.

The musical will have an entirely new creative team and is due to be re-imagined on stage at the London Palladium in the summer.

Performances are set to begin on 26th June, with the show going on to play a strictly limited 11 week summer season, concluding on 8th September, 2019. Tickets go on general sale on 7th December, GTOs should keep an eye on the tour’s website for information on group discounts.

The multi-award winning show is thought to be the first major musical collaboration between Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, and has grown from its beginnings as a small-scale school concert, to one that has seen multiple runs in the West End and on Broadway.

The new production will be performed on Monday to Saturdays at 7.30pm, with matinees varying during week time and weekends across the season.
Stars who have previously played the title character of Joseph include Jason Donovan, Phillip Schofield, Lee Mead, Joe McElderry and Donny Osmond. Casting for the role of Joseph will be announced at a later date.

The show features songs that have gone on to become pop and musical theatre standards, including Any Dream Will Do, Close Every Door To Me, Jacob and Sons, There’s One More Angel In Heaven and Go Go Go Joseph.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat: Synopsis

Told through song with the help of a narrator, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat follows the story of Jacob’s favourite son, Joseph, and his 11 brothers.

After being sold into slavery by the brothers, he ingratiates himself with Egyptian noble Potiphar but ends up in jail after refusing the advances of Potiphar’s wife.

While imprisoned, Joseph discovers his ability to interpret dreams and he soon finds himself in front of the Pharaoh. As Joseph strives to resolve Egypt’s famine, he becomes Pharaoh’s right-hand man and is eventually reunited with his family.
