Shropshire's Dorothy Clive Gardens to celebrate 60th anniversary

The Heritage Lottery Fund grant of £49,800 will be used to raise the awareness of the English country garden.

To mark the occasion, Dorothy Clive Garden will be offering a special discounted price to group visits during 2019.

Another garden to benefit from Lottery funding will be Betley Court, also in Staffordshire, which will receive £68,000 to enable it to open permanently to the public for the first time.

Groups are advised to spend the morning and lunch at the Dorothy Clive Gardens, before moving onto Betley Court Gardens for the afternoon, as a pre-visit before its official opening in 2020.

The number of tours available will be limited so early booking is recommended. Heritage walk and talks can be booked in advance.

Those already planning a visit to the Dorothy Clive Garden next month will be able to benefit from free entry when they present a National Lottery ticket or scratch card on the 7th and 8th December.

The gardens, which are located on the border of Shropshire and Cheshire, offer a year-round programme of events, alongside a new winter garden, an edible woodland, a woodland quarry with waterfall, an alpine scree and pool, a rose walk and seasonal borders.

The onsite tearoom, located in the heart of the 12-acre garden, is open daily throughout the main season and sells a range of foods including seasonal homemade soup and scones.

Visiting groups can benefit from packages including discounts on admission prices, flexible visiting times, guided garden tours, free entry for coach driver and group organiser (in groups of 20 plus) and discount on the hire of the garden pavilion.
