What’s new

A brand new Brain Zone recently opened at Life Science Centre. This interactive area lets you investigate how the brain works and it’s open just for adults on certain Fridays throughout the year. 

Planning permission has just been granted for the renovation of Newcastle City Pool and Turkish Baths. The neo-Georgian attraction should be open by 2018. 

A new Alan Shearer statue has just been unveiled at St James’s Park. Groups can make the most of a visit here by taking a rooftop stadium tour, on which they’ll get views of the football ground from a walkway that’s 150 foot above the ground.

Essential Sights

Newcastle Keep: This is one of the city’s most historical buildings. Visitors can explore its history through a range of exhibits and attend re-enactments and even paranormal investigation sessions.

The Baltic Centre: Talks, guided tours and artist led studio sessions are just some of the options available to groups at this cutting-edge art museum.

intu Metrocentre: Thought to be Europe’s largest shopping and leisure centre, the intu Metrocentre is home to more than 330 retail outlets and can be reached by rail from Newcastle Central.

Victoria Tunnel: The Ouseburn Trust runs guided tours of this 19th century wagon way that was also used as an air raid shelter during World War Two. 

City Sightseeing: Hop on and hop off at almost 20 sites around the city, on an open-top bus trip. Available between March and October. 

The Sage: This concert venue is also one of Newcastle’s icons. Visitors can book in to see a show and also take a guided tour to learn about the building’s design
