We round up five shows in London that are likely to make you and your group chuckle this summer.

Whether it’s a cheesy musical you can all sing along to, or a classically written comedy play, the West End is full of choice when it comes to an afternoon or evening of laughter in the theatre.

1. The Comedy About A Bank Robbery

Recently announcing its extension into 2019, this play by Mischief Theatre follows a handful of characters as they attempt to rob a bank, facing many hilarious mishaps and challenges as they go. The show is playing at The Criterion Theatre.

2. Spamilton

This spoof of the popular musical Hamilton will open on 24th July and run until 8th September at the Menier Chocolate Factory in London. Gerard Alessandrini brings his singular wit to the all-conquering musical Hamilton. 3. Chicago

Although famous for its storyline and music, Chicago is also a barrel of laughs, with raunchy innuendos and amusing characters and scripting. The musical is currently running until October this year at Phoenix Theatre and stars American actor Cuba Gooding Jr in the role of Billy Flynn.

4. School of Rock

This fun-loving musical, based on the hit 2003 film by the same name, follows out-of-work, wannabe rockstar Dewey Finn who poses as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. He encourages the children to form a rock band, with him as the front man, as they take on the battle of the bands. This show, playing at the Gillian Lynne Theatre, is currently booking until January 2019.

5. Young Frankenstein

Playing at London’s Garrick Theatre until September this year, Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein will have you in stitches, with many sexual references and well timed humour. If you’re a fan of Mel Brooks’ works you’ll love the show, and even if you are unfamiliar with it, the show is fun for all adults.
