The day long familiarisation trip will encompass all of Wisley’s best bits, providing you with a taste of the garden’s contemporary-style planting and landscape designs, as well as traditional rose gardens and mixed borders.

As a VIP visitor you will get to enjoy a guided tour, followed by a buffet lunch, as well as free time to explore RHS Garden Wisley at your leisure.

You’ll be met upon arrival and taken for tea and coffee in the Laboratory building, which still serves its original purpose as a base for RHS scientists. You and your fellow Group Leisure readers will then enjoy a short introductory talk about the garden and the group packages that the RHS can offer.

The party will then be split into smaller groups to take a tour of the garden. The tour will offer an overall view of the site, plus focus on seasonal highlights like the orchards, which look beautiful in September.

The guided tour will be followed by a buffet lunch at The Restaurant. This dining space – one of several at Wisley – celebrates the seasons with fresh garden produce, picked at its peak, featuring on the menu and in the decor.

After lunch you will have free time to look at parts of the garden you haven’t already seen, including the glasshouse, which is a huge cathedral-like glass structure that covers an area equal in size to ten tennis courts. It has three climatic zones, recreating tropical, moist temperate and dry temperate habitats.

Overall, there are around 30,000 plant varieties at Wisley, and throughout your visit, you’ll get to see plant collections from around the world, from alpine to meadow-style planting, a bonsai walk and an arboretum.

The familiarisation trip will end with time for a little retail therapy in the shop and plant centre before departure.
