Young Frankenstein

A brand new musical comedy show based on Mel Brooks’ film Young Frankenstein is set to have its UK debut this September in the West End.

The show will open at the Garrick Theatre in London on 28th September this year, and tickets are on sale now.

The show is based on the Oscar nominated 1974 film Young Frankenstein, by Mel Brooks. Casting and further details are yet to be revealed.

Group ticket rates for eight or more people will be available.

Summary

Young Frankenstein is a reimagining of the original Frankenstein novel by Mary Shelley. It follows Frederick Frankenstein, a brain surgeon and professor, as he inherits a castle and laboratory in Transylvania from his grandfather.

Audiences will watch as Frankenstein find himself stuck with a dilemma of whether to run from his family’s past, or carry on his grandfather’s experiments of bringing the death back to life. A love story will be thrown into the mix, too.

The film cast included Gene Wilder who portrayed Frederick Frankenstein and Marty Feldman as his assistant, Igor.

More about the production

Mel Brooks will collaborate with Broadway director and choreographer Susan Stroman to create this new comedic musical.

The show is produced by Brooks, along with Michael Harrison and theatre company Fiery Angel, and co-written by Thomas Meehan.

The music and lyrics are also by Mel Brooks.

Groups who’d like to see the musical outside of London can catch it during a limited pre-West End season at the Theatre Royal Newcastle, which will start on the 26th August and run until 9th September.
