York Dungeon to re-launch in spring 2013

Date Posted: 10/12/2012

The York Dungeon will re-launch on 22nd March with the return of favourite characters and scarily fun experiences for group visitors to enjoy.

The York Dungeon brings 2,000 years of authentic York history to life with a mix of live actors performing in 11 scarily funny shows, featuring special effects and edge-of-your-seat surprises.

Groups can expect the return of favourite characters including gunpowder plotter Guy Fawkes, infamous highwayman Dick Turpin and Viking King Eric Bloodaxe.

A supporting cast of colourful characters, including the friendly torturer, crazy plague doctor and a mental judge will also add to the experience.

There will be authentic theatrical sets to provide guests with a dramatic experience.

General manager Helen Douglas said: "When we re-launch The York Dungeon next year we are taking things up a level...We're looking forward to welcoming visitors back to something fresh and dynamic that's laugh-out-loud funny and scream-out-loud-scary all at the same time."

Recent flooding of the river Ouse damaged two thirds of The York Dungeon attraction, leaving it unfit for operation. This has given the attraction time to update previous highlights before its new opening in the spring.
