Wrest Park’s restoration

Date Posted: 15/12/2010

The beautiful landscape garden at Wrest Park in Bedfordshire moves into the spotlight in August, when it opens after a £1.14 million Heritage Lottery Fund makeover. It will boast newly-restored garden areas, new exhibitions and a new visitor centre in its Walled Garden - complete with introductory exhibition, shop and 74-seater cafe. There will also be more to see of the 90-acre landscape, with improved access to the recently-restored Italian and Rose Gardens.

Inside the mansion, two new exhibitions tell the story of the estate, and selected rooms can be viewed. Groups will soon be able to explore the whole of the Grade I listed grounds via a network of re-instated paths. An audio tour is included in the admission price and guided tours may be pre-booked.
