William Morris Gallery reopens after facelift

Date Posted: 02/08/2012

The William Morris Gallery in Walthamstow, London has reopened to the public following a £5 million refurbishment project.

Now a cultural destination where groups can enjoy exhibitions, new facilities and a programme of activities and events, the gallery displays the life and work of the radical Victorian designer, craftsman and campaigner, William Morris, and explores his continuing relevance today.

New displays and facilities

More of the outstanding collection of textiles, wallpapers, ceramics, glass, furniture, stained glass, books and fine art will be presented; with new interactive displays, improved facilities and full access.

There will also be a new special exhibition gallery, an improved shop, and a Wi-Fi enabled Tea Room with views over the recently-refurbished Lloyd Park.

When to visit with your group

Group travel organisers should note that the William Morris Gallery will be open Wednesday through to Sunday, though pre-booked groups can also visit on Tuesdays, and admission is free.
