West End opening for Great Expectations

A new stage adaptation of Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations will open in London’s West End in February following the success of its UK tour.

Opening at the Vaudeville Theatre on the 6th February, with previews from 1st February, Great Expectations has been adapted for the stage by leading Scottish playwright, Jo Clifford.

Paula Wilcox stars as Miss Havisham

Paula Wilcox plays wealthy spinster Miss Havisham, leading a 14-strong cast which stars Jack Ellis as Jaggers and Chris Ellison as Magwitch.

Additional cast members include Paul Nivison as Adult Pip, Grace Rowe as Estella and Taylor Jay-Davies as Young Pip.

Dickens’ most popular novel brought to the stage

Reportedly Charles Dickens’ most popular novel (Guardian Poll 2012), this is the first time Great Expectations has been presented as a full-scale stage play in the West End.

This new production follows previous incarnations as a musical, television drama, and most recently a Hollywood blockbuster starring Helena Bonham Carter.

Group theatre bookings

Performance times are Monday to Saturday at 7.30pm, with the Tuesday showing at 7pm; plus mid-week and Saturday matinees at 3pm.
