Warwick Castle announces new group tours for 2016

Date Posted: 29/12/2015

Warwick Castle is launching two new group-friendly tours for next year; the Towers and Ramparts Tour and the Capability Brown Tour.

The Towers and Ramparts Tour will give visitors the opportunity to discover the murderous rise to power of House Beauchamp, Medieval England’s most powerful dynasty.

Guests will be able to climb through Medieval ramparts, towers and chambers, to discover the gruesome history of the Beauchamps, how the castle walls have been defeated, the role played by the Beauchamps in the Hundred Years War and the part they played in the execution of Joan of Arc.

Another new tour for next year will be the Capability Brown Tour, which will celebrate Capability Brown’s 300th birthday.

As part of the experience, the Warwick Castle history team will guide groups through 64 acres of Brown’s first independently commissioned gardens and they will be able to get an insight into the secrets of his work.

This will include his landscaping of the grounds, structuring of his planting and the features installed in the 1750s that changed Warwick Castle.

Warwick Castle is a Grade I listed building and Scheduled Ancient Monument. The castle has played a prominent role in English history for 11 centuries.

Other attractions at the castle include The Castle Dungeon, an interactive spooky walkthrough revealing the bloody history of the castle, the Time Tower, The Mighty Trebuchet and the Princess Tower.

Visitors can also explore the grand interiors of the rooms inside the castle, or take a moment to visit the Earl’s private chapel.

Groups can also find the Rose Garden, Birds of Prey Lawn, The Mound, River Island and Peacock Garden amongst the castle’s grounds, whereas food can be enjoyed in the Georgian Coach House Restaurant.

Warwick Castle offers discount for groups of seven or more people.
