Wallace and Gromit art project hits Bristol

Date Posted: 05/12/2012

A public arts trail, featuring the popular character Gromit from Aardman Animations’ Wallace & Gromit, will launch in Bristol on 1st July.

Group travel organisers planning a visit to the city next summer will be able to see 60 giant hand-painted sculptures of Gromit, one of the show’s main Oscar-winning animated characters, as part of a project named Gromit Unleashed.

The sculptures will grace the streets of Bristol for ten weeks, after which they will be auctioned off in aid of Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal, the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children’s charity.

National and international artists and designers are being invited to create their own, original, one-of-a-kind Gromit for the exhibition, and Wallace & Gromit creator Nick Park, who is closely involved with the project, will be designing one of the sculptures on the trail himself.
