Walking holidays visit remote China, Ghana and Georgia

Date Posted: 15/10/2012

Adding Ghana, Georgia and south-west China to its walking and trekking portfolio, adventure operator Explore, has launched 14 new walking holidays for 2013.

Enabling active groups to explore some of the most remote corners of the earth, the 2013 programme offers tours suitable for all walking abilities.

Ghana, Georgia and China walking tours

  • Ghana and Togo on Foot: This 15-day tour combines walking and cultural experiences, visiting local villages and markets, and watching a traditional fire dance in Togo. In Ghana, groups will explore the rainforest, hike to the top of waterfalls and meet locals from the nearby villages.
  • On Foot in the Caucasus: This 16-day trekking holiday in Georgia explores the remote regions of Kazbegi and Svaneti; with the chance to walk along the Truso Gorge to the carbonated lake, visit Uplistsikhre Cave town and trek to the base of Mount Shkhara.
  • Yunnan’s Tribal Trails: Suitable for groups looking for a more challenging trek, this 18-day tour explores the remote corner of China’s south-west - a land of minority tribes and spectacular mountain scenery.

European walks closer to home

Group travel organisers seeking a short-haul option can embark on Explore’s ten-day Wine, Walks and Tapas tour in Spain.

Suitable for those requiring a gentle pace, the tour has a special focus on local cuisine, and journeys from Bilbao to Barcelona, sampling the local wines and tapas. Groups will also enjoy walks through vineyards, along the coast and on top of Monserrat ridge.
