Visit Lincolnshire closes its doors

Date Posted: 23/02/2011

Tourism body, Visit Lincolnshire has ceased to trade and is in the process of going into administration. For now, group travel organisers in need of help and advice visiting the county will need to talk to the venues and hotels directly.

Visit Lincolnshire had been involved in several campaigns to lure more groups to the area and last year hosted the national conference and AGM for the Group Travel Organisers Association, which included visits to local attractions such as Lincoln Cathedral. Government cuts are affecting regional development agencies throughout the country and more tourist boards and associations are expected to close in the coming months.

Tourist information centres and commercial organisations will aim to carry on the work of supporting tourists and assisting with your group travel plans. The national tourist associations for England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland continue to support GTOs with planning tools, ideas and links online.
