Christmas market at Nuremberg

Uniworld Boutique River Cruises has launched a standalone Christmas markets brochure for 2016 that features new festive cruises along the Rhine, Danube and Main rivers.

Nuremberg to Vienna

The Taste of Christmas programme allows groups to cruise onboard Uniworld’s flagship vessel, the S.S. Maria Theresa, on a European Holiday Markets itinerary from Nuremberg to Vienna.

This eight day cruise follows the Danube through Germany and Austria, and boasts excursions to three UNESCO World Heritage Sites, one of which is the city of Regensburg, plus other destinations.

Groups opting for this cruise holiday can expect shopping opportunities at Christmas markets, where wooden stalls displaying traditional crafts can be explored.

There will also be a visit to Café Demel in Vienna – famous for its confectionary decorations in the windows – and a horse-drawn wagon ride through a scenic Bavarian Forest.

Basel to Cologne

Additionally, GTOs can book onto a Rhine Holiday Markets cruise, which will take place onboard the S.S. Antoinette.

This cruise goes from Basel to Cologne over eight days, and featured excursions include a walking tour of Basel’s Old Town, a Taste of Christmas walking discovery tour – great for foodies – and a visit to the Doktorenhof vinegar estate.

Even more festive fun

Other excursions featured in the UniWorld Christmas brochure include a tour of the streets of Koblenz in Germany; a pretzel making class in Werthelm, Germany; mulled wine-tasting in Durnstein, Austria; and traditional Slovakian medovníky (spiced ginger cookies) tasting.

Further festive highlights include a visit to the Baroque town hall of Koblenz, which will be transformed into a giant Advent Calendar, plus the chance to witness a life-sized Nativity scene and an exclusive organ recital in Vienna.
