Tramway Village hosts modern history weekends

The Crich Tramway Village, near Matlock, Derbyshire will host a series of modern history themed weekends throughout 2011, promising to dramatically recreate life in the first half of the 20th century for visiting groups.

Events include: Easter 1940s weekend (24th and 25th April), featuring military vehicles, soldiers and civilians; 1950s Weekend (25th and 26th June), with a gala of 50s music, cars and styles; Edwardian Weekend (9th and 10th July), reflecting the Edwardian period with soldiers, suffragettes and a chance to ride the horse tram; and Red Oktober (23rd October), a celebration of Eastern Bloc vehicles.

Each event boasts a full entertainment programme reflecting the theme of the weekend, with the Tramway Village’s Red Lion Pub and Tearoom serving real ale and a menu appropriate to the time period.

Parties of ten plus planning a visit to Crich Tramway Village are entitled to a number of benefits including discounted rates, guided tours and group catering.
