Date Posted: 07/02/2012

Stage spectacular, Disney’s The Lion King is to embark on it’s first ever UK tour from September.

The award-winning musical is to visit ten cities in the UK and Ireland over two-and-a-half years, opening for an 11-week run at Bristol Hippodrome on the 6th September, before playing at Manchester’s Palace Theatre from the 6th December to 31st March. Further dates are to be announced.

Thomas Schumacher, producer and president of Disney Theatrical Productions, commented: “We continue to be thrilled by how UK audiences have enjoyed The Lion King in London, and have long wished to also share this production with audiences nationally. Following years of planning, and after receiving the counsel of some very smart friends in the British theatre world, we are delighted to be launching a production that conveys Julie Taymor’s epic vision and at a moment that feels absolutely right.”

The West End production of The Lion King, now in its 13th year, will continue to play at London’s Lyceum Theatre. Tickets are now available for group bookings at both the Bristol Hippodrome and Manchester Palace Theatre.
