The Full Monty will embark on a new tour the UK this year, launching in Bournemouth on the 21st September and finishing at the Sheffield Lyceum on the 15th April 2017.
The show is based on the 1997 film of the same name that tells the story of six out-of-work Sheffield steelworkers who form a male striptease act to raise money. The difference between their act and a typical male striptease act is that they will go ‘the full monty’.
The Full Monty will include stars such as Gary Lucy (EastEnders, The Bill, Footballer’s Wives), Joe Absolom (EastEnders and Doc Martin), Louis Emerick (Brookside and Last of the Summer Wine), Chris Fountain (Hollyoaks and Coronation Street), and Kai Owen (Torchwood and Hollyoaks).
The script has been written by Simon Beaufoy, who also wrote the film that the show is based on.
The Full Monty was Simon’s first theatre production, and his film credits include The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, 127 Hours and Slumdog Millionaire.
The production – which features iconic songs from the film by artists such as Donna Summer, Hot Chocolate and Tom Jones – will be directed by Jack Ryder. Jack has directed national tours of Calender Girls and has also acted in EastEnders in the role of Jamie Mitchell.

The British film gained an unexpected international commercial success, grossing over £171 million despite a budget of just £2.40 million.
It was the highest grossing film in the UK until it was outsold by Titanic, which was released in the same year.
It is believed that the cast agreed to do just one take of the ‘full monty’ strip at the end of the film, which resulted in the choreographer, Suzanne Darley-Grand, hiding out of camera shot and shouting directions during the filming of the closing scene.
The Full Monty will tour between September 2016 and April 2017, showing at Eden Court in Inverness, King’s Theatre in Edinburgh and Marlow Theatre in Canterbury – with further dates to be added.
