Tamsin Greig leads Longing cast

A new production of Longing will play at the Hampstead Theatre from 28th February to 13th April, with a cast led by Tamsin Greig and John Sessions.

Other members of the cast include Jonathon Bailey, Natasha Little, Eve Ponsonby and Catrin Stewart.

Grieg has previously featured in stage shows Jumpy and Little Dog Laughed, while television appearances include BBC’s Episodes and White Heat, and Channel Four’s Green Wing and Friday Night Dinner.

John Sessions has performed in stage productions My Night with Reg and Waiting for Godot, and film roles include the Prime Minister in both The Iron Lady (2011) and Dagenham Girls (2010).

Longing is based on two short stories by Anton Chekov, and has been adapted for stage by William Boyd. It is directed by Nina Raine, following her 2010 sell-out play Tiger Country.

Synopsis of Longing

When Kolia is invited to visit his oldest friends on their estate in the country, he anticipates a pleasant break from Moscow life.

But as the comedy of provincial life plays out around him, he finds himself adrift in a sea of false expectations, missed opportunities and unspoken passions.
