Buckingham Palace’s summer opening for visitors has been extended by three weeks, which will mean groups have the chance to visit the royal palace for a total of ten weeks.
The extension will see the state rooms and the exhibition Royal Gifts at Buckingham Palace open to visitors from Saturday 22nd July to Sunday 1st October.
Marking Her Majesty The Queen’s 65th year on the throne, Royal Gifts will tell the story of the Queen’s reign through a wide-ranging display of official gifts presented to her during the past 65 years.
Gifts from world leaders such as former US President Ronald Reagan, former South African President Nelson Mandela and President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China will be on display alongside further craftsmanship from across the globe.
During the summer opening of Buckingham Palace groups will also be able to visit 19 state rooms, which provide the setting for ceremonial occasions and official entertaining.

Groups planning to visit Buckingham Palace from now up until 30th November can also visit the Royal Mews, home to the royal collection of coaches and carriages, including the Gold State Coach which has been used at every coronation since 1821, and the Diamond Jubilee Coach.
Changing exhibitions displaying paintings and works of art from the Royal Collection are also available for groups to visit in the Queen’s Gallery.
Currently running is Portrait of the Artist, which focuses on images of artists from within the Royal Collection and showcases over 150 works from artists including Rembrandt, Rubens, Freud and Hockney. This exhibition runs until Monday 17th April.
Following on from Portrait of the Artist will be Canaletto & the Art of Venice from Friday 19th May to Sunday 12th November, which will bring together a selection of 18th century Venetian art with a particular focus on view-painter Caneletto.
