Star Clippers Reveals New Ship Named Flying Clipper %7C Group Travel News %7C The Flying Clipper

Star Clippers is celebrating its 25th anniversary by announcing the name of their fourth ship, launching in 2017.

The Flying Clipper will be the biggest clipper in Star Clipper’s fleet to date and will carry 300 passengers.

It will be a close replica of the France II which was known to be the largest square rig sailing ship ever built.

The Flying Clipper will be the world’s largest square rigger and largest ship of its kind today.

The new ship will boast three pools – one of which will funnel sunlight into the dining room – , a water sports platform,34 suits with balconies and four owner’s suites. There will also be an open seat dining restaurant and a glass Dive bar.

It will also have the usual Star Clipper hallmarks such as a library, the bowsprit net, and the al fresco Tropical Bar, which will be the basis of the evening entertainment.

The current ships – Star Flyer, Star Clipper and Star Clippers flagship, Royal Clipper, sail the Mediterranean waters in the summer months before relocating to the Caribbean and Cuba for winter.

This December, a new route in Asia will launch with Star Clipper.

In summer 2017, the company will sail Indonesian waters for the first time with 19 departures between May and October, from Bali and Singapore and Bali round trips.

Star Clippers launched its first ship, Star Flyer, 25 years ago in 1991. The ship was a recreation of the classic sailing ships of the 19th century.

The company was also one of the first lines to receive permission from the Cuban government to sail to Cuban waters for the first time in 2014.
