Southport’s Tattoo Museum welcomes groups

Date Posted: 02/08/2011

Southport is inviting groups to experience its newest free attraction, The Tattoo Museum, now open to the public.

The King Street Museum boasts more than 5,000 items on display, with artefacts and memorabilia dating back to the Roman and Celtic periods. There are also tattoo designs and machines from renowned tattoo artists, including Ron Ackers, Sailor Jerry and the Skuse family.

The museum is managed by brothers Willy and Tony Robinson, who have spent the past 20 years buying both individual items and private collections. Their tattoo memorabilia collection is now promoted as one of the most important in Europe.

Willy Robinson commented: "I've spent a huge part of my life building this collection and it’s fantastic to be able to share it with visitors to Southport.”
