Weston Park in Sheffield welcomes British Museum touring exhibition China: Journey to the East from the 17th December, running until the 9th April.

Enabling visiting groups to discover the fascinating history of one of the world’s most ancient civilisations, the exhibition at Weston Park marks the final leg of a major national tour. China: Journey to the East explores more than 3,000 years of Chinese culture and innovation, displaying more than 100 objects from the British Museum’s collections.

The exhibition explores themes such as food and drink, festivals and beliefs, and play and performance. Artefact highlights include Ming Dynasty ceramics depicting Chinese warrior gods and immortals; an ornate 17th century porcelain model theatre; and a bronze mirror from around 1000 AD linked to the Chinese Moon Festival. Visitors can also view a variety of traditional Chinese games and musical instruments dating from the 1600s to 1900s.
