See spectacles of nature on your next group cruise

The latest ship in Saga’s fleet, Saga Sapphire, has announced a 2013 cruise programme that promises to take in some of nature’s most spectacular sights.

Highlights from the programme include:

In search of the Northern Lights

This voyage to the far reaches of Norway passes through Viking heartland and across the Arctic Circle to see the aurora borealis.

Group travel organisers can choose to book a selection of optional winter activities, including dog sledding, snowmobile safari and an overnight stay at the Alta Igloo Hotel, which is made entirely from ice and snow – even the beds.

Land of the Midnight Sun

This cruise unveils the awe-inspiring landscapes of the Arctic Circle as passengers sail far north to the ‘top of the world’.

Nature-lovers on this group holiday should be on the lookout for walrus, Arctic fox, reindeer and bowhead whales.

Africa and the Solar Eclipse

The Saga Sapphire will navigate the coastlines of Spain and Africa in order to view a phenomenon which occurs once every 19 years. On 3rd November 2013, the captain will position the ship for passengers to witness a hybrid eclipse of the sun, due to take place on that day.

Canary Island Christmas

This winter sun cruise starts in Casablanca with its blend of European, African and Arabian influences. An optional overnight excursion to Marrakech is offered to explore its colourful souks and bustling squares.

Groups can then celebrate Christmas Day with a host of festive activities and a traditional lunch, as you sail to the island of Tenerife.

New Year’s Eve will be spent on the island of Madeira, finishing off with a firework display to welcome in the New Year.
