See the Houses of Parliament in a new light

Date Posted: 25/11/2014

A new exhibition at the Houses of Parliament will blend art and history.

On 20th January, a new exhibition will open at the Houses of Parliament that aims to showcase the roots of the institution through contemporary art.

Open until November, the display has been created in order to mark two milestones on Parliament’s timeline. The first is the 800th anniversary of the sealing of the Magna Carta and the second is the 750th anniversary of the first parliament.

Nine modern artists have been tasked with creating two banners each for the exhibition, with each banner representing a milestone in the journey towards rights and representation, including the Civil War, Suffrage acts, and the development of civil rights.

The artists include Ross Sinclair, Maria Amidu, Ruth Ewan and Joel Millerchip.

Discounted rates are available for groups.
