Lord of the Flies 2015.

Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre has confirmed that author Michael Morpurgo’s Running Wild will open the 2016 season on 13th May and run until 12th June.

In a co-production with Chichester Festival Theatre, who originally created the piece with their youth theatre, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre will develop the play ready for its professional premiere.

Synopsis

Running Wild is a story about living for the moment. For Will and his mother, going to Indonesia isn’t just a holiday – it’s a new start, and the chance for Will to ride an elephant called Oona.

But when a tsunami hits, and Will finds himself clinging on to the elephant who has charged into the jungle, he must learn to survive the rainforest, and remember that he isn’t the only person in there.

The summer season

Plenty of other productions will take place at the Open Air Theatre over the summer of 2016.

Robert Hastie will direct William Shakespeare’s history play Henry V from 17th June to 9th July to commemorate the 400th anniversary since the playwright’s death.

The play focuses on events immediately before and after the Battle of Agincourt during the Hundred Years' War.

If your group is more interested in musicals, you can all celebrate 45 years since Jesus Christ Superstar first hit the stage.

Directed by Timothy Sheader, the musical will run from 15th July until 27th August, including hit songs I Don’t Know How to Love Him and Superstar.

Concluding the season will be Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice from 2nd to 17th September, before the production embarks on a UK tour.
