Royal Albert Hall Presents West Side Story Anniversary Screening

The Royal Albert Hall will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the release of classic MGM musical motion picture West Side Story next summer, as it presents a screening of the film accompanied by a live orchestra.

From the 22nd to 24th June, audiences will have the chance to experience this classic romantic tragedy on screen while listening to Leonard Bernstein’s seminal score brought to life on stage by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, conducted by Jayce Ogren, featuring well-known musical numbers America, Somewhere and Tonight

Jasper Hope, chief operating officer at the Royal Albert Hall, commented: “Half a century after its release, West Side Story is still regarded as one of the greatest movies ever made. These exclusive anniversary screenings, accompanied for the first time ever in Europe by the live performance of one of the greatest scores ever composed, will introduce this timeless classic to an entirely new generation.”
