Revolutionary new ship from P&O Ferries

Date Posted: 10/05/2011

Spirit of Britain is the new €180 million ship from P&O Ferries, with five sailings from Dover to Calais per 24 hours.

Promoted as one of the largest and most revolutionary ferries to sail across the Dover Strait, Spirit of Britain can accommodate up to 2,000 passengers, and features three separate vehicle decks capable of carrying almost four kilometres of traffic parked end to end.

Boasting a new era in cross-Channel travel, group passengers are promised comfort and convenience, with floor to ceiling picture windows, and a choice of dining in either The Brasserie waiter-service restaurant, or the self-service International Food Court.

Helen Deeble, chief executive of P&O Ferries, commented: “We are delighted to welcome this fantastic new ship to Dover. She offers a leap forward in terms of her size and the quality of the build and I’m confident that she’ll provide a fantastic experience for all of the customers who will travel on her in the years to come.”

Officially named by Dame Kelly Holmes, Spirit of Britain will be joined by sister ship Spirit of France in September.
