Return of The Railway Children

Date Posted: 03/03/2011

Damian Cruden’s production of The Railway Children will return to The Waterloo Station Theatre this summer, running from the 18th June until the 4th September.

With casting for this year’s production to be announced shortly, the show has received two 2011 Olivier Award nominations for Best Entertainment and Best Sound Design. Audiences will view the production from either side of a real railway track, with the 1,000 seat theatre created especially for this production in the old Eurostar Terminal.

E. Nesbit’s much-loved children’s story follows Bobby, Peter and Phyllis, three children whose lives change dramatically when their father is mysteriously taken away. Moving from London to a cottage in rural Yorkshire with their mother, they befriend the local railway porter and embark on a magical journey of discovery, friendship and adventure. But the mystery remains - where is Father, and is he ever coming back?

Now booking, performance times are Tuesday to Saturday at 7.30pm, with Wednesday and Saturday matinees at 2.30pm, in addition to Sunday shows.
