Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre has unveiled details of its 2012 season which begins on the 18th May next year.

The London theatre is set to present a repertory season of two major productions which will share the same creative team, led by artistic director Timothy Sheader.

Previewing from the 18th May and running until the 8th September is Ragtime - a contemporary musical based on the novel by E.L. Doctorow. Set at the turn of the 20th century, the powerful production unites three families separated by race and destiny in a story of hope and transformation. With music by Stephen Flaherty and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, the 1996 Broadway production received four Tony Awards.

Ragtime will run alongside A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Previewing from the 2nd June and booking until the 5th September, the production is the joint vision between Sheader and co-director Liam Steel, based on Shakespeare’s magical play and featuring original music, movement and setting.

Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre is offering a special Olympic pricing structure for all performances from 25th July to 12th August if booked before the end of April.
