Red Bull Air Race returns to Ascot

Date Posted: 05/02/2015

Red Bull Air Race pilots will test their mettle in the skies above the internationally renowned race track between 15th and 16th August.

Dating back to the 1700s, Ascot Racecourse has a unique history that few sporting venues the world over can match.

But the racecourse is rapidly becoming known for another high-flying event that will return in August for the second year running.

Ascot will once again host one of the prestigious stages on the Red Bull Air Race’s eight-stage calendar.

With its triangular nature and large sweeping turns, the Royal Ascot is renowned as a tough racecourse. The Red Bull competitors will find their work cut out, with the race taking place above Ascot’s Jumps track.

Spanning the globe, the Red Bull Air Race will start with its traditional opening in Abu Dhabi from 13th to 14th February and will conclude in Las Vegas on 17th and 18th October.

Speaking about the race’s return to the UK Charles Barnett, chief executive at Ascot Racecourse, said: "The Red Bull Air Race World Championship at Ascot Racecourse was one of the highlights of my eight years here, and demonstrated the remarkable versatility of the venue. I am delighted that we will be able to do it all over again in 2015!"
