Ramblers recruits groups for national walking festival

Date Posted: 02/07/2011

Britain’s walking charity, Ramblers, is inviting groups to participate in A Walk in the Woods week, a nationwide woodland walking festival taking place from the 3rd to 9th October.

Groups can join the Ramblers across the length and breadth of the country on free woodland walks, which range from family-friendly forest adventures and autumnal strolls, to longer rambles for the seasoned hiker. Led by experienced Ramblers Walk Leaders, participants can discover hidden woodland wonders, learn about the UK’s native tress and celebrate local forests.

Tom Franklin, Ramblers chief executive, commented: “There is nothing more magical than an autumn walk through the woods as the leaves start to change colour. The public outcry over the sale of English forests demonstrated just how much we use and value our local woodland. We want everyone across the country to come together to celebrate British woodland and show the world the importance of being able to walk in the woods.”
