60s musical Hair is set to tour the UK for the first time in 2012, opening at the Liverpool Empire Theatre on 10th April.

Directed and choreographed by Gary Lloyd, the award-winning director of West End production Thriller, the touring production of Hair will star Gareth Gates (pictured) in the leading role of Claude, alongside Zoe Birkett as Dionne and Amy Diamond as Sheila.

Set in 1960s New York, a group of youths come together to fight for peace, love and freedom. Capturing the mood and movement of the times, Hair is promoted as the original rock musical, featuring classic songs such as Aquarius, Let the Sunshine in and title track Hair.

Tour dates include the Opera House, Manchester (23rd to 28th April); Alexandra Theatre, Birmingham (30th April to 5th May); Bradford’s Alhambra Theatre (7th to 12th May); New Theatre, Oxford (28th May to 2nd June); The Grand Theatre, Blackpool (2nd to 7th July); and Southampton’s Mayflower Theatre (16th to 21st July). Additional dates will be announced in due course and group travel organisers should contact their preferred venue for further information.
