Norfolk hosts theatrical experiences as part of the London 2012 Festival

Date Posted: 22/06/2012

If you’re on a group trip to Norfolk this summer, you can enjoy two contemplative theatrical experiences as part of the London 2012 Festival, which began yesterday.

• Robert Wilson’s Walking will run from 20th August to 2nd September

Circa’s How Like An Angel premieres at Norwich Cathedral on 26th June, moving on to Ely, Gloucester and Ripon Cathdrals.

Renowned visual artist and theatre director Robert Wilson’s Walking is a series of sculptural and sound installations which promises to transform a three-mile stretch of north Norfolk coastline at Holkham Nature Reserve.

Groups can walk along a normally private path through woodland, meadows and dunes, encountering gigantic sculptural and sound installations.

A circus in a cathedral

Showcasing contemporary circus skills in cathedral spaces, Circa will perform to the sounds of Renaissance choral music from I Fagiolini in How Like An Angel.

An interplay of music and physical movement, aerial performers will be propelled into the cathedral’s high open spaces, with the singers of I Fagiolini spread throughout the building below.

Dates for How Like An Angel include:

• Ely Cathedral: 2nd and 3rd July
• Gloucester Cathedral: 16th and 17th July
• Ripon Cathedral: 19th and 20th July

Group travel organisers can book tickets through the Norfolk & Norwich Festival website.
