New wonder.land musical premier

Manchester International Festival announces new Alice in Wonderland-inspired musical, to run throughout July. 

The 150th anniversary of Lewis Carroll’s classic children’s tale, 2015 will also see the premier of new spin-off musical stage play.

wonder.land tells the story of a virtual place where people can be whoever they want to be. The plot follows the story of Aly, a 12-year-old who is bullied at school and uses wonder.land to escape reality, meeting some strange characters along the way. 

The music for wonder.land has been created by Damon Albarn from Blur and the show will be directed by Rufus Norris from the national Theatre. 

wonder.land will also feature projections by 59 Productions and lighting by Paule Constable, the design team behind War Horse.

The show will run at Manchester's Palace Theatre from 2nd to 12thof July, with previews running from 7.30pm on the 29th and 30th of June and the first of July.
